Objective: To investigate and analyze the current status of WeChat public accounts' Popular Science launched by pharmacy departments of seven level A tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Beijing. Methods: The titles, releasing time, drugs or foods involved, polpulation involved, styles, content categories and click rate of original works published by WeChat public accounts launched by pharmacy departments of the hospitals before June 30th, 2019 were recorded, collected and analyzed. Results: A total of 535 works were collected, of which more than 95% adopted pure literal style with or without pictures and less than 5% used video or animation. The works' average click rate was 1110. The top three topics of the content category were drugs, popular science about diseases and adverse drug reactions. The traditional Chinese medicines, beverage, food, health care products, antibiotics and drugs for common chronic diseases were frequently mentioned in these works. However, the popular science for pregnant women and lactating women were less involved in the works. Conclusion: The works of popular science created by pharmacy departments of the hospitals are facing the following challenges:for example:limited dissemination, lack of continuous creativity, repetitive contents and coverage to be expanded and so on.
