Objective: To analyze the use of Chinese patent medicine containing toxic herbs in the Department of Pharmacy, Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (hereinafter referred to as "our hospital"), and provide references for the rational management of Chinese patent medicines containing toxic herds in medical institutions. Methods: Statistics of the varieties of Chinese patent medicines containing toxic herbs in our hospital, the manual, the types of toxic herbs, the toxicity and the use of the materials were analyzed. Results: There were still irrational drug use phenomena in clinical application of Chinese patent medicines containing toxic Chinese traditional medicine decoction pieces in our hospital. Conclusion: The instructions of some Chinese patent medicines containing toxic TCM decoction pieces are not clear about the contraindication and precautions, etc. Medical institutions must strengthen the management and rational use of Chinese patent medicines containing toxic TCM decoction pieces, reduce the incidence rate of adverse clinical reactions, and ensure the safety of drug use.
