Objective: To understand the implementation of the policy of the first batch of national-organized centralized drug procurement (hereinafter referred to as "national centralized drug procurement") in several hospitals in Wuhu area, and provide references for promoting the rational use of selected drugs and improving various medical insurance policies in the district. Methods: The relevant information on selected drugs and the same non-selected drugs before and after the implementation of the policy of the first batch of national centralized drug procurement from several hospitals in Wuhu area was collected. Results: The unit price (tablet/bag/potion) of 11 selected varieties used in the first batch of the national centralized drug procurement in 3 hospitals had decreased by 70.94% on average and the highest decline had reached 98.80% compared with the original varieties. The procurement completion ratio of selected varieties was 104.13%-591.53%, the average distribution rate was 89.78%, and the sales completion rate was 89.00%-415.25%. The proportion of procurement sum of non-selected drugs had decreased from 9.03% to 0.17%, and the proportion of sales sum had decreased from 6.96% to 0.27%. The average hospitalization cost and the expenditure of medical insurance fund decreased. Conclusion: The implementation of the first batch of national centralized drug procurement in several hospitals in Wuhu area has achieved certain effects, really reduced the economic burden of patients, effectively saved the medical insurance fund and promoted the rational drug use in hospitals.
